"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Mile 599.  Tortoise had a very full and most enjoyable Pioneer Day, starting with the pictured activities above in LaVerkin and ending in the evening with activities pictured later in this post in Springdale.  In between he took an energetic walk from his office a ways down Tortoise Track trail in Confluence Park and back.

Mile 576.  If there was any doubt that Tortoise is slow (but hopefully steady), we have this week as Exhibit A.  Tortoise walked a "marathon, and a little extra, and those 26.4 miles "only" took six days!  If you prefer to measure it use the time walked during those six days, that would be 8 hours 38 minutes 48 seconds.  Were that a real marathon, Tortoise would have been escorted off the course hours before finishing.  As it was, he enjoyed a vigorous week of walks, highlighted by Wednesday's walk on the Prospector Trail in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve pictured above.

Mile 529.  Happy Independence Day, America!  Tortoise celebrated by getting up early and heading to the end of the Zion National Park shuttle at the Temple of Shinawava with Josh, Benjamin, Ethan, and Riley.  We headed up the Riverside Walk from there, and then walked the river upstream for another half mile.  For many more exciting pictures and other details from this walk and the rest of Tortoise's walking week, please click below to continue reading ...
