"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Mile 694.  Tortoise did the loop up the hill from his office, with an extra leg to pick up one more hill.  Pictured above is a view not quite 2 miles into the walk at the north end of the ball fields looking back at the Hurricane Ridge and some nice looking clouds.  To see Lou's other pictures today, along with a map, details, and his walking thought from Thomas S. Monson, please click below to continue reading ...

Congratulations to Elder Michael Ragozzine on his mission accomplished in Des Moines, Iowa, and his fine Sacrament Meeting talk reporting on it today.  Willyne and I were invited to their family dinner afterwards, where we enjoyed visiting with Michael, and Darin, who flew in, basically for the day, for the occasion.  It was nice to visit for a moment and sneak in some hugs!

Mile 686.  Tortoise had an opportunity early this evening to walk the Coal Creek Trail in Cedar City.  Lou could feel the difference in elevation from his usual 3200 to the 5800 here, but he adjusted quickly and enjoyed the walk.  To see the other pictures Tortoise took along this path, plus a map, other details of this walk, and the day's walking thought by Henry Eyring, please click below to continue reading ...

Mile 680.  Tortoise found a slightly new path in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve to explore on his way home from errands after work.  Slightly new because he has walked portions of the Pathfinder Trail before, but not the one headed southwest from the Cottonwood Hills trail junction.  To see the other pictures Lou took, along with a map, other details, and the day's walking thought by Larry Gibson, please click below to continue reading ...

Mile 673.  While doing some late afternoon errands, Tortoise thought of a short 2 mile walk he could fit in that would give him plenty of climbing.  More than he realized, down then back up a total of 350 feet, for an average grade of 6.5% in the uphill mile.  For a map, another picture and details, and the day's walking thought by M. Russell Ballard, please click below to continue reading ...

Mile 664.  After finishing four stops in Washington and Bloomington to complete his business day, Tortoise set out to walk the full Grapevine Trail this evening.  Its trailhead is just off I-15 at Exit 13, making it a very convenient place to start walking.  To find out if Lou was able to get this done, while looking at several more pictures and a map, as well as enjoying today's walking thought by Dale Renlund, please click below to continue reading ...

Mile 660.  A good solid energetic 3.68 mile walk begun from the office at a still very warm 8:30 pm. It included 236 feet of uphill that provided a steady 2.4% grade for almost 2 miles that most certainly produced the desired 125 heart rate.  You'll find a map, additional details, and the day's walking thought by Wilford Andersen when you click below to continue reading ...
