"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Day 0

"Got reacquainted with my friend the treadmill. I've missed it, but went slow to avoid dizzyness. Walked 0.33 mile-flat surface-10 minutes."

This was written in my general blog, "Keep Dad Alive - Passionately Smiling Tortoise Musings", a random collection of thoughts shared mostly with my adult children.  After a couple of weeks on the treadmill, I decided on January 3, 2011 to create a whole separate blog to try to keep me motivated to walk.  The Life and Times of Tortoise (and Terreeeblay) was born.

I had graduated on June 28, 2010 from 33 daily radiation treatments over two months.  In response to my family doctor, Mel Carter, this entry documents how I started trying to seriously walk each day a few months later. I started and stopped multiple times along the way.  December 22, 2010 began quite a journey as I look back on it as I write this on Earth Day (April 22), 2015.  With plenty of ups and downs.  I now don't dare to quit daily walking because I know how fast I would return to the poor physical state I was in.

Thank you for sharing the journey with me.  I am excited to see where it takes me next ...

Cheerio!
