"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Mile 686.  Tortoise had an opportunity early this evening to walk the Coal Creek Trail in Cedar City.  Lou could feel the difference in elevation from his usual 3200 to the 5800 here, but he adjusted quickly and enjoyed the walk.  To see the other pictures Tortoise took along this path, plus a map, other details of this walk, and the day's walking thought by Henry Eyring, please click below to continue reading ...

Mile 460.  Tortoise drove in a caravan high up Kolob Terrace Road from the Cedar Canyon side, helping to shuttle participants in the La Verkin Stake pioneer handcart trek to the starting point.  His walk today was to be an extra person to push a little harder on the handcarts when climbing hills such as the one at the beginning, shown above.  Lou continued for about 2 1/2 miles, then when he reached the downhill section, he said goodbye to the handcart parties and returned to his car.  It's a great way to help all of us, particularly our youth, appreciate our history and heritage!

Had two appointments in Cedar City to start my day and snuck in a short walk on the Coal Creek trail in between them.  After later appointments back in Hurricane I did another walk there to get to my total goal for the day ... 3.31 miles with 255 feet climbed in 0:52:17 minutes.  Tortoise rating:  4.5; Calories burned:  560.  Please click below for a map and more pictures ...

My camera and I only did partial justice to this fine building
at the start of my first recorded walk in Becca's city
Today's walk of 0.75 miles, climbing 98 feet in 15 minutes, in Cedar City, Iron County, Utah was rated HumanaFit category 5 (Tortoise Rating: 2.9).  This was the second straight day with a category 5 walk.  Totals of my category 5 climbs is now 31.67 miles with 2,808 feet climbed in 11 hours 43 minutes. This activity brings my chapter 3 totals to 107.43 miles walked in 42 hours 31 minutes, with 6,714 feet climbed, and 13 swims totalling 4,440 meters in 4 hour 47 minutes.
