"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Day 110  - I walked 9.11 km (5.66 miles) with 40.2 m (132 feet) climbed in 01:41:29.  The climbing included 92 feet calculated by Humana Fit plus an estimated 40 feet climbing four half-flights of stairs twice at the conclusion of the walk, which since it was done inside a building, HumanaFit's satellite didn't track.

Series 2B totals 293.74
km (182.56 miles) in 61 hours 19 minutes, with 3100.2 m (10,170 feet) climbed in 10 counties in 8 states.  Today Maricopa County, Arizona was added to my walking list.  Even starting at 7 am, it was a very warm walk, I think I sweated a full liter of water.

The total of 11 Series 3 walks is 62.23 km (38.67 mi) in 15 hours 55 minutes. Total distance climbed is 1594.4 m (5234 feet).  The eleven walks so far were on February 12, 19, 26, May 7, 14, 21, June 11, July 2, August 19, 26, and today, August 31.

For Benjamin:  I slept 3 1/2 hours last night.

Here are some pictures of today's walk.  I discovered a trail system around the nearly dry creeks that have been paved to serve as storm control ditches, and also discovered an entire trail system around a small mountain in north Phoenix.   It will be fun to come back some time and explore them some more ... perhaps not in the summer though.

View up the mountain from where I turned around

View south of the city from the trailhead

Part of the trail system along the storm control ditches.  Definitely desert landscaping.
