"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

125

Day 41 -  I walked 4.07 km (2.53 miles) in 1 hour 37:40 minutes, including several stops to let my breathing catch up with me.  President Grant, I admit to having plenty of repetitive effort left before my "capacity to do increases".   I climbed 192.0 m (630 feet) - a HumanaFit category 2 climb!  (Tortoise rating:  1.3)

Series 2B totals 88.33 km (54.89 miles) in 19 hours 19 minutes, with 1354.2 m (4443 feet) climbed.

The total of 7 Series 3 walks is 35.51 km (22.07 mi) in 9 hours 31 minutes. Total distance climbed is 1179.9 m (3874 feet).  The seven walks so far were on February 12, 19, 26, May 7, 14, 21, and today, June 11.

And now that I have learned this is only a two and a half mile round trip, not the four I thought it was, I no longer consider this a series 4 walk.  As mentioned a few lines ago, I can see that I have a ways to go at Series 3 before I am ready for Series 4.  And the trail is as slippery as ever.  I recommend boots with Vibram soles.

Here's some pictures followed by a map...

A rare side view of the LaVerkin Arch Bridge, also taken about a half mile up the trail

Hi, Benjamin!

A view to the north from the overlook.  Sally, that's Toquerville in the distance ...

A view of the Virgin River "on the other side of the mountain" on the way down

  2. I'm guessing "anonymous" was Benjamin, and I agreee...fantastic!! Blogger is still being ogg, but can only echo Benjamin's cheer! Obvious you are getting better on the climb, and one day do hope to be able to join you. Congrats on the slow and steady improvement with your consistent walks and effort really paying off!!
