"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-18

Doug joined me on my walk today.  He wanted to do the trail along the river towards Walmart, but when we headed over after the Liverpool vs. Aston Villa football match they were just wrapping up a half marathon, so we parked in the Dixie Center lot and walked under the Dixie Drive bridge to get to the park and our starting point.  We instantly had our Kodak moment with all the icy snow still hanging on in the shade.  Pretty amazing given our long run of sunny 55-60 degree days!

My phone battery died at the half way point, so the map will show the first half of the walk ... we retraced our steps for the second half, with slightly more uphill on the return trip.  Totals were 5.14 miles with 99 feet climbed in 2:03:06 hours.  Tortoise rating:  6.1.  Calories burned:  882.

2014 Stats:

57.42 miles walked, which is 5.74% of my 2014 goal.
18:38:00 hours walked, which is 5.95% of my 2014 goal
2,738 total feet climbed
9,077 calories burned
5.11% of the year has passed.
I've walked on 15 of the 16 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 93.8% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

 The tortoise is smiling!
