"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-148

Walked to Valley Academy this afternoon to continue wrapping up my service there, then continued to the ballfields on 200 West and looped back around to the office.  2.75 miles with 141 feet climbed in 51:32 minutes.  Tortoise rating:  5.1; calories burned:  429.  For a map and more, please click below ...

2014 Stats:

415.21 miles walked, which is 41.48% of my 2014 goal.
129:22:14 hours walked, which is 41.33% of my 2014 goal
19,302 total feet climbed
66,540 calories burned
40.58% of the year has passed
I've walked on 118 of the 127 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 92.91% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. Are you bored yet? I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

The tortoise is smiling!

If you look closely in these pictures, you will see a really large flag blowing heartily in the wind.  It was quite dramatic to see while walking, not so much so in a still picture ...

  1. I get nothing for a few weeks and then a full recap! BTW, I can't see the flag :(

  2. It's hard to see the flag for sure, I tried. It looked great while walking, tried 4 times to get a picture, just wasn't the same ...
