"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-188

I took Willyne's car over for an oil change, safety inspection, and license plate renewal at my friends at Roadrunner this morning, and went for a 2.43 mile walk for 45:00 minutes in the 87 degree sunshine rather than bask in their air conditioned room while waiting for them to take care of me.  There was 96 feet of elevation gain along the way, yielding a tortoise rating of 5.3 on the uphill half of the walk.  380 calories were burned.  Tortoise has more waiting for you when you click below to continue reading ...

Not wanting to settle for less, tortoise went out a second time a little before 10 pm for another 1.29 miles with 36 feet climbed in 25:55 minutes.  The tortoise rating this time was 5.5; calories burned:  203.  Here's a map:

2014 Stats:

528.55 miles walked, which is 52.80% of my 2014 goal.
165:21:52 hours walked, which is 52.83% of my 2014 goal
24,181 total feet climbed
84,486 calories burned
51.44% of the year has passed
I've walked 31 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on May 31, and overall have walked on 150 of the 161 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 93.17% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

The tortoise is smiling!
