"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Happy Pioneer Day to you!  It was busy for me, and fun.  Did you ever think you'd see Muriel Church on an ATV, for example?  I started the day at La Verkin's festivities, then went to Toquerville, then hung out at home for awhile, losing two Risk games in the process, but then that's pretty normal when I play Risk these days.  Around 4 I headed up to Springdale for the rest of the day, and while there I got in a 2.00 mile walk with 100 feet climbed in 40:00 minutes.   Tortoise rating:  4.9; calories burned:  320.  There is no map today, my phone ran out of battery and it got lost in the process.  However, I have a lot of pictures that I think you will enjoy when you click below to continue reading ...

Cheerio!

We'll start with some La Verkin pictures ...

About 350 came for breakfast

After breakfast there were a variety of pioneer games and activities

When LaVerkin was winding down, I headed to Toquerville to see if they were still at it.  They had 600 for breakfast there, which I don't have pictures of, but here's some fun there ...

I was particularly impressed with this game!
And then on to Springdale ...

And since this is primarily a walking blog, here's some pictures from when I had a break and went for a little walk ...

2014 Stats:

584.56 miles walked, which is 58.40% of my 2014 goal.
184:00:09 hours walked, which is 58.79% of my 2014 goal
27,263 total feet climbed
93,393 calories burned
56.23% of the year has passed

I've walked 46 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on May 31, and overall have walked on 165 of the 176 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 93.75% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

The tortoise is smiling!
