"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-267

Tortoise travelled to Las Vegas this morning to help Willyne catch a flight to Florida to represent us at our Ragozzine grandchildren's Primary program ... then continued on to California for two days of business appointments.  Here is a picture of a park in Tehachapi along the path of tonight's 2.67 mile walk with 65 feet climbed in 54:51 minutes.  The average elevation of 4013 contributed to the tortoise rating of 5.4.  426 calories were burned along the way.  For a map and a thought by Gordon B. Hinckley, please click below to continue reading ...

2014 Stats:

756.13 miles walked, which is 75.54% of my 2014 goal.
238:50:16 hours walked, which is 76.31% of my 2014 goal
35,970 total feet climbed
120,724 calories burned
73.16% of the year has passed

I've walked 3 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 216 of the 229 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 94.32% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

Tonight's walking thought, by Gordon B. Hinckley in the October 1990 LDS General Conference:

"May God grant us the strength and the discipline so to conduct our lives as to follow more nearly the matchless example of the Redeemer, of whom it was said, He 'went about doing good.' Mormon Should Mean 'More Good'.”
