"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-335

Mile 949.  Tortoise walked 3.32 miles home from work this evening. There were 215 feet climbed in 1.66 miles along the way, for a 4.8 tortoise rating on the uphill portion of this walk.  The rest of the path was flat or downhill.  Lou burned 490 calories in 1:03:47 hours doing this.

Cheerio!

About to the top of the hill

City power plant with holiday cheer

Road construction approaches. Tortoise will turn left at that point.

Widening 600 North Street east of 200 West.  Will be nice.
2014 Stats:

949.85 miles walked, which is 94.89% of my 2014 goal.
299:27:53 hours walked, which is 95.68% of my 2014 goal
46,480 total feet climbed
150,563 calories burned
91.69% of the year has passed
I've walked 61 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 274 of the 287 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.47% consistency rating.

This is now Tortoise's longest consecutive days walked streak, passing the previous record of 60 accomplished between June 1 and August 9, 2014.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for today's walking thought, originally presented in October 1993:

"The atonement of the Son of God opened the possibility that all mankind could return to the presence of the Father. Now He teaches us, “Follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do” (2 Ne. 31:12)"
