Mile 1,072. On a spectacular 58 degree afternoon with no wind, Tortoise got an idea for a new place to walk that includes a nice steadily steep hill with beautiful views. So he drove out 3000 South in Hurricane to within about a half mile of the drop down to Sand Hollow Reservoir, parked his car, walked the rest of the way to the top of the hill, then dropped down for a mile and a quarter.
