"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

16-74

Mile 186.  Happy pi day to you!  Tortoise put on his pi shirt, generously donated to him by Becca last pi day, and headed out on a pi walk -- that's where you walk pi/2 miles and then retrace your steps to complete a 3.14 mile walk.  High quality for sure!  Lou was accompanied this evening by a peaceful walking thought by Richard Scott ...

Cheerio!

With thanks to my friends at www.mapmyfitness.com

Today's walk was 3.14 miles and had a 4.7 tortoise rating earned by climbing 227 feet in the 1.57 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 3285.  This walk burned 461 calories in 54:06 minutes, a pace of 17:14 minutes per mile.  It was Lou's twenty-sixth 5k walk of 2016

Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:

186.28 miles walked, compared with Lou's goal for this date of 200.64 miles.

13,423 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 12,348. Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in 16 minutes less each day than his 1:07:04 hour average in 2015.  So far in 2016 Tortoise's walks have averaged 48:09 minutes each.

His average pace so far in 2016 has been 16:17 minutes per mile, slightly more tortoise like than his goal of 16:05 minutes per mile, but a noticeable difference from his 18:25 minute per mile pace in 2015.

Lou has walked 264 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, Overall he has walked on 367 of the 376 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 97.61% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of both distance and of time walked than of the year.  This tells Tortoise that he is on track.  And of course, he also wants to keep the Boredom Committee supplied with plenty of boring numbers so those good folks will be happy.

And now for today's walking thought ...

"As you center your home on the Savior, it will naturally become a refuge not only to your own family but also to friends who live in more difficult circumstances.  They will be drawn to the serenity they feel there.  Welcome such friends into your home.  They will blossom in the Christ-centered environment.  Become friends with your children's friends.  Be a worthy example to them.

"One of the greatest blessings we can offer to the world is the power of a Christ-centered home where the gospel is taught, covenants are kept, and love abounds."

The tortoise is smiling!
