"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

16-102

Mile 268.  The rain has stopped, leaving the air cool and invigorating.  Tortoise enjoyed his walk up the hill this evening, accompanied by a thought by Gary Stevenson ...

Cheerio!

The Wingate hotel is taking shape in the distance past the pink lit trees.

Today's walk was 3.24 miles, done in 50:07 minutes at an average pace of 15:28 minutes per mile.  This route had an average 4.8 tortoise rating earned by climbing 218 feet in the 1.62 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 3285.  This walk burned 547 calories.  It was Tortoise's forty-sixth 5k walk of 2016.

Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:

268.66 miles walked, compared with Lou's goal for this date of 277.07 miles.

19,198 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 17,052. Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in 16 minutes less each day than his 1:07:04 hour average in 2015.  So far in 2016 Tortoise's walks have averaged 50:45 minutes each.

His average pace so far in 2016 has been 16:26 minutes per mile, slightly more tortoise like than his goal of 16:05 minutes per mile, but a noticeable difference from his 18:25 minute per mile pace in 2015.

Lou has walked 288 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, Overall he has walked on 391 of the 400 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 97.75% consistency rating.  Only 50 more consecutive days to gain another quarter percentage point and reach 98%, ha!

One step at a time can lead to great things!

And now for today's walking thought ...

"As you do these things, the Lord will make much more out of your life than you can by yourself.  He will increase your opportunities, expand your vision, and strengthen you."

The tortoise is smiling!
