Mile 588. Tortoise started walking as the final rays of sunlight disappeared. It was still somewhere between 100 and 102 degrees, down from at least 108 earlier in the day. It has been unusually hot this week, even for La Verkin in July.
There were benefits though. Lou would have never seen these pretty lights and flags if he had walked another time of the day. Thank you!
This evening's thoughtful inspiration came from Richard Scott ...
Cheerio!
Today's walk was 3.70 miles, done in 1:10:55 hours at an average pace of 19:10 minutes per mile. This route had an average tortoise rating of 4.7, earned by climbing 264 feet in the 1.85 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 3236.
Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:
588.73 miles walked, compared with Lou's goal for this date of 573.25.
40,193 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 35,28o. Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in less time each day than his 1:07:04 hour per day average in 2015. So far in 2016, Tortoise's walks have averaged 58:15 minutes each.
His average pace so far in 2016 has been 17:48.6 minutes per mile, compared with his 18:25 minute per mile pace in 2015.
Lou has walked 381 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, 2015. Overall he has walked on 484 of the 493 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 98.174% consistency rating.
And now for today's walking thought ...
"I have seen individuals encountering challenges who knew what to do when it was beyond their own experience because they trusted in the Lord and knew that He would guide them to solutions that were urgently required.."
