Mile 784. Confluence Park was so nice on Tuesday, Tortoise decided to go back today, this time on the south side of the Virgin River. He started at the trailhead at the far north end of Hurricane's Main Street, went down the Confluence View trail to the river, then climbed back up the steep hill by taking Chub Trace to the Basalt Trail to Tortoise Track until it becomes 200 West. Today's walk was 3.77 miles, done in 1:23:41 hours at an average pace of 22:12 minutes per mile. This route had an average tortoise rating of 4.0, earned by climbing 356 feet in the 1.64 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 3173.

So far in 2016, Tortoise's walks have averaged 59:25 minutes each, compared with his daily average of 1:07:04 hours the previous year. He enjoys seeing what he can do in an hour and change each day!
