"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Day 101  - I walked 3.38 km (2.10 miles) and climbed 35.1 m (115 feet) in 00:34:11.

Series 2B totals 250.63 km (155.77 miles) in 51 hours 53 minutes, with 2559.2 m (8395 feet) climbed in 9 counties in
7 states.

Listening today while walking:  "Preparation Brings Blessings" by President Thomas S. Monson from the April 2010 Priesthood Session of the General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints:
http://lds.org/general-conference/2010/04/preparation-brings-blessings?lang=eng.  One of the paragraphs brought back sweet memories:

"One of my most vivid memories is attending priesthood meeting as a newly ordained deacon and singing the opening hymn 'Come, All Ye Sons of God.' Tonight I echo the spirit of that special hymn and say to you, 'Come, all ye sons of God who have received the priesthood.'  Let us consider our callings, let us reflect on our responsibilities, and let us follow Jesus Christ, our Lord."

As a deacon, I remember more than once in Stake Priesthood Meeting having President Knudsen (a counselor in the stake presidency) call all the Aaronic Priesthood holders up to the stand, where he would personally lead us in singing this song.  Of course, I was terrified at the time, but I felt so good singing it with my fellow Priesthood brothers!  Please click the arrow in the picture below, it will take you about two minutes to watch and listen.  I think you will be touched as I was (and still am every time I sing or hear this song).
