"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

13-256 -- that's 4^4 - or 4x4x4x4 - Hi Rachel!

Attempt to capture the partially cloud covered moon above the bright theater lights - view south

The quieter view north -- perhaps you prefer the soft light on the walking path

You get choices tonight, dear reader.  I'm still working on this coming Monday's deadline (and the October 15 one that follows right behind it) so time is still at a premium, but the rain has stopped for now, so I put on the 31 pound pack and did the short trek up to 600 North (near Valley Academy) from my office and back.  1.30 miles total with 113 feet climbed in 26:50 minutes.  (Total miles walked since 6/28:  116.93)  HumanaFit says the uphill portion is category 5, while the Tortoise Rating gives it a 4.4.  Temperature was 78 and humid, doesn't sound much like southern Utah does it?

First choice:  If I had only posted one picture, which one would you choose?

Please click below for info on calories consumed and burned today ... followed by another choice for fans of Doug Jr.'s gaming skills.  But not before giving a shout out to Benjamin, my lucky Friday the 13th charm.  I think of you every time that day rolls around, it's not limited to May.  I just smile when folks say it's an unlucky day, because of you, I know better!

Cheerio!

  1. I like picture #2, and Friday the 13th makes me think of Benjamin as well!! I am super surprised that with such a stressful time you limited yourself to just 1200 calories, that is major crazy talk friend!

  3. I like picture #2 as well. As for stress, well, mostly it was so stressful there was no time to eat. But then we get to a steak dinner the next day ... guess you'll have to check out 4^4+1 for that :-)

  5. He sure had a strong piano line on it! The fact that it was Chavez ravine didn't hurt either!

  7. I like picture 2 as well ... glad y'all do too. As for tortoise dedication, well, it's my escape valve when I can sneak it in. Although carrying the pack, yes, that's dedication. :-)
