"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-23

Walked up to Valley Academy and back twice today.  Perhaps you can tell from the flag that it was walking into the wind ... that just makes the exercise better :-)  I added a final segment this evening to and from the signal light near Southern Utah State Bank so that I would pass my 3 1/4 mile daily goal.  Totals for the day:  3.45 miles with 187 feet climbed in 1:03:58 hours.  Tortoise rating:  5.0.  Calories burned:  538.

2014 Stats:

69.84 miles walked, which is 6.98% of my 2014 goal.
22:33:41 hours walked, which is 7.21% of my 2014 goal
  3,226 total feet climbed
11,023 calories burned
6.07% of the year has passed.
I've walked on 19 of the 20 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.0% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

 The tortoise is smiling!

  3. I'd take wind over the polar vortex any day, freezing temperatures does not make the exercise better!!

  4. The polar vortex is the reason Terreeeblay and his cousins were invented. Sometimes indoor exercise is a wonderful thing! I love fresh air, but not self-inflicted torture. My hat is off to you and all your fellow Bostonians that you can survive all that blustery weather ...
