"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-126

After doing some things at church after work this evening, I parked my car across the street at Davis Farmers Market and headed out on a 4.05 mile walk that took me through always peaceful Confluence Park.  The picture above is a view of the Virgin River from part way up the Cactus Cliff Trail.  My climb of 322 feet gave this walk a tortoise rating of 4.6.  640 calories were burned.  There's a map and more pictures waiting for when you click below to continue reading ...

Cheerio!

Heading into Confluence Park

La Verkin Creek may not carry much water most of the time, but it is a
welcome oasis attracting these shady trees in our desert.
2014 Stats:

361.65 miles walked, which is 36.17% of my 2014 goal.
113:00:31 hours walked, which is 36.10% of my 2014 goal
16,858 total feet climbed
58,212 calories burned
34.50% of the year has passed
I've walked on 102 of the 108 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 94.44% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

The tortoise is smiling!

  1. This is the awes trail you took Sarah and I on right? Just different entrance? If so, hope you still signed in at the awes notebook with the pen you added :)

  2. It is the same trail, and yes! I did sign in the guest register book. Alas , my pen is gone, replaced by a pencil :-). I loved walking it with you and Sarah and think of that day every time I go back! If you click on the Confluence Park tab in the right column of this blog, you can see when I go back.
