"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-171

I went to our stake girls' camp for dinner tonight and stayed for testimony meeting and overnight to help pack camp and head home.  I left the GPS feature of my phone on while making dozens of little trips all over camp to help get things done, and since there was no cell phone reception and thus no way to transmit a completed walk to the Map My Fitness website, I left the walk open overnight with the phone on my car charger, and continued with it the next day.

Today's portion was 2.10 miles, this included a mile walk at midnight to the zip line and back plus a loop around camp so that I could get to my two mile daily minimum.  Estimated elevation gain was 20 feet, and estimated time (assuming 2 miles an hour) was 1:03:00 hours.  Tortoise rating:  4.7 (because of the average 7419 foot elevation despite the basically flat walk); calories burned:  336.

2014 Stats:

479.16 miles walked, which is 47.87% of my 2014 goal.
149:21:04 hours walked, which is 47.72% of my 2014 goal
21,999 total feet climbed
76,560 calories burned
46.96% of the year has passed
I've walked on 136 of the 147 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 92.52% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.
The tortoise is smiling!
