"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-174

It's 9 pm, do you think it's cooled off enough to leave the office and head out on a walk?  (In the interest of full disclosure, I did take a 2 hour dinner break/FHE with my sweet earlier in the evening before heading back for another round at work).

Sure!  And thus it was that on a clear, still 85 degree evening, I walked 4.33 miles while climbing 187 feet in 1:10:46 hours.  This path is designed to load the uphill portion in 1.29 miles with a nice easy on the knees decline for the remaining 3.04 miles.  The tortoise rating on that uphill portion was 4.7; calories burned were 708.  For a map and more, please click below ...

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

487.54 miles walked, which is 48.71% of my 2014 goal.
152:02:32 hours walked, which is 48.58% of my 2014 goal
22,516 total feet climbed
77,916 calories burned
47.60% of the year has passed
Weigh-in:  235.8, down 0.9 from my last weigh-in on June 18.
I've walked on 138 of the 149 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 92.62% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

The tortoise is smiling!

  1. The boredom committee congratulates you on wonderful post! You have managed to take a picture of 2 empty chairs in an empty office! We thought maybe there would be something too interesting on the computer but after further inspection it appears to be on the login page. This is truly a boredom triumph! Please continue this great service to the blogging community!

  2. Thanks to the ever generous boredom committee. The hidden message in the uber boring photo beyond all the correct observations you made, is that the office is clean!
