Yes, this is on the way to work. In fact this path was a quarter mile shorter than the one I used to walk home last night, at 3.47 miles. There was 342 feet of climbing, which overall gave the walk a 4.2 tortoise rating on the uphill half. Just for the record, 207 of those feet come in just 0.29 miles. The 13.5% grade on that stretch would produce a tortoise rating of -0.7 (a rare, beyond tortoise walk!). But the chairman of the tortoise path rating commission won't issue ratings lower than 4.1 for walks or segments shorter than a mile. So we will just say that tortoise got a vigorous workout on his trek to work. It took him 1:07:05 hours in mid 80s temperatures; he burned 545 calories.
I'm hoping Becca will get a smile out of the old time bridge shown above. There's more pictures and a map waiting for you when you click below to continue reading ...
Cheerio!
2014 Stats:
565.23 miles walked, which is 56.47% of my 2014 goal.
565.23 miles walked, which is 56.47% of my 2014 goal.
177:18:00 hours walked, which is 56.65% of my 2014 goal
25,764 total feet climbed
90,282 calories burned
54.63% of the year has passed
I've walked 41 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on May 31, and overall have walked on 160 of the 171 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 93.57% consistency rating.
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.
The tortoise is smiling!
