"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-198

I walked home from work tonight, you never know what you will see along the way on a given day.  Tonight I passed a guy running his guts out to get to first base in this game. Especially impressive as it was still 100 degrees a few minutes after 9. (It did cool to 95 by the time I arrived home at 10)  Seeing him run made the smiling tortoise smile more while going 3.71 miles with 224 feet climbed in 1:10:44 hours.  Tortoise rating in the 1.35 mile uphill portion was 4.5; calories burned 583.  For a map and more, please click below ...

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

561.76 miles walked, which is 56.12% of my 2014 goal.
176:10:55 hours walked, which is 56.29% of my 2014 goal
25,422 total feet climbed
89,737 calories burned
54.31% of the year has passed

Weigh-in:  236.6, down 0.2 from my last weigh-in on July 11 and my second straight drop for a total of 1.5 since July 1.  Slow tortoise style for sure, and I'll take it

I've walked 40 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on May 31, and overall have walked on 159 of the 170 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 93.53% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

The tortoise is smiling!
