Tortoise walked 2.27 miles around the hillsides of La Verkin tonight, delivering surprises ... one of the more enjoyable things he does. This endeavor took him 47:32 minutes while climbing 95 feet. This generated a tortoise rating of 5.3 and burned 365 calories. Please click below for a map and today's walking message, "The Tongue Can Be A Sharp Sword", originally delivered in April 1992 by Marvin Ashton.
Cheerio!
2014 Stats:
834.31 miles walked, which is 83.35% of my 2014 goal.
263:25:49 hours walked, which is 84.16% of my 2014 goal
40,463 total feet climbed
133,216 calories burned
80.19% of the year has passed
80.19% of the year has passed
I've walked 25 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 238 of the 251 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 94.82% consistency rating.
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.
And now for more of today's walking thought,
"In the world today we are victims of many who use their tongues as sharp swords. It seems to add intrigue & destruction as the media & private persons indulge in this pastime of bashing. The dictionary reports that to bash is to strike with a heavy, crushing blow. We need to be reminded that the words “Nay, speak no ill” are more than a phrase in a musical context but a recommended way of life."

The tortoise is smiling!
Another amazing week! The dedication to walk everyday even with the stress of a deadline is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's how I deal with the stress. It gives me something to take my mind completely to another place. Seeing new things, having my heart pump faster, hearing inspiration. This hour is a life saver ... (and thank you, Benjamin)

ReplyDeleteI think you deserve an upgrade from the tortoise nickname for all your determination and consistency. Maybe "Lou" for Lou Gherig. And on top of that I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth because you are my Dad.
Wow. Wow. Wow! To say that is very high praise is a total understatement. Especially since I live for the titles of "Husband" and "Dad". This is a payday for me for sure. Thank you very, very much!
