"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-315

Mile 900.  Happy Veterans Day with flags galore on a 3.42 mile walk to work on another beautiful fall morning!  There were 241 feet climbed in 1.71 miles along the way, giving that portion a 4.7 tortoise rating.  The rest of the path was flat or downhill.  Lou burned 508 calories doing this.

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

900.05 miles walked, which is 89.92% of my 2014 goal.
283:48:18 hours walked, which is 90.67% of my 2014 goal
44,194 total feet climbed
143,146 calories burned
86.26% of the year has passed

I've walked 44 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 257 of the 270 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.19% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for more of today's walking thought, originally presented in October 1992:

  1. Once again, loving Tortoise's consistency and share goodness thoughts! Appreciated the reminder that there is really power when we engross ourselves in the scriptures, and the promised blessings that come to those that do are vital to our ability to find happiness in this life as well as to return to live with Heavenly Father in the next.
