"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-314

Mile 896.  Today's walk was 3.49 miles home from work along the highway, starting by crossing the highway at Lin's market, in a total of 1:04:11 hours. There were 115 feet climbed in 1.75 miles along the way, giving that portion a 5.5 tortoise rating.  The rest of the path was flat or downhill.  Lou burned 513 calories doing this.

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

896.63 miles walked, which is 89.57% of my 2014 goal.
282:39:23 hours walked, which is 90.31% of my 2014 goal
43,953 total feet climbed
142,638 calories burned
85.94% of the year has passed

I've walked 43 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 256 of the 269 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.17% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for more of today's walking thought, originally presented in October 1992:

I pray that Heavenly Father will help us be wise men and wise women—wise enough to accept His invitation, nourish His word, and follow a “straight course to eternal bliss.” (Alma 37:44.) May we all cheerfully answer, “I’m coming.”
