"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-319

Mile 908. Kevin and Alli's wedding was memorable, not only for the spirit in the sealing room and for the cold while the pictures were taken, but for this couple's endless smiles and their desire to serve their guests lunch!  Tortoise added a 2.07 mile walk to this brilliant day, immediately before the wedding lunch in Woods Cross.  There were 2 feet climbed in 1.04 miles along the way, giving that portion a 5.8 tortoise rating.  The rest of the path was flat or downhill.  Lou burned 304 calories doing this in 35:45 minutes.

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

908.42 miles walked, which is 90.75% of my 2014 goal.
286:29:28 hours walked, which is 91.53% of my 2014 goal
44,586 total feet climbed
144,394 calories burned
87.54% of the year has passed
I've walked 48 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 261 of the 274 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.26% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for more of today's walking thought, originally presented in April 1993:

"Whatever our station in life, whatever our achievements, no matter how great, a submissive heart and a humble spirit are still fundamental to our faith. We must guard against letting our worldly successes or earthly learning become a substitution for spiritual wisdom and divine direction given through the prophets."
