"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-326

Mile 928.  Tortoise helped his sweet lady set up for an activity to finish the ceramic Nativity pieces they've been working on at church all year.  When they were under way, Lou took the scenic route home, 3.98 miles through Confluence Park.  There were 332 feet climbed in 1.10 miles along the way, giving that portion a 3.2 tortoise rating.  The rest of the path was flat or downhill.  Lou burned 602 calories in 1:23:11 hours doing this.

2014 Stats:

928.73 miles walked, which is 92.78% of my 2014 goal.
292:53:37 hours walked, which is 93.58% of my 2014 goal
45,677 total feet climbed
147,402 calories burned
89.46% of the year has passed
I've walked 54 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 267 of the 280 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.36% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for today's walking thought, originally presented in April 1993:

"It is a precious privilege to enter a house of the Lord. They are available to us because of a price paid by others.  The heaviest price of all was paid by the Son of God,the Savior and Redeemer of the world.  He gave his life on Calvary’s cross for the sins of all mankind.  Because of that gift, all are assured the blessings of the resurrection."
