"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-325

Mile 924.  Tortoise walked 2.43 miles this evening on a loop through the west side of La Verkin beginning at the church on 300 West.  There were 82 feet climbed in 1.21 miles along the way, giving that portion a 5.4 tortoise rating.  The rest of the path was flat or downhill.  Lou burned 359 calories in 47:39 minutes doing this.

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

924.75 miles walked, which is 92.38% of my 2014 goal.
291:30:26 hours walked, which is 93.13% of my 2014 goal
45,345 total feet climbed
146,800 calories burned
89.14% of the year has passed
I've walked 53 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 266 of the 279 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.34% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for today's walking thought, originally presented in April 1993:

"How much of a normal day, a working week, or a fleeting month is devoted to 'Jesus, the very thought of thee'? Perhaps for some of us, not enough. Surely life would be more peaceful, surely marriages and families would be stronger, certainly neighborhoods and nations would be safer and kinder and more constructive if more of the gospel of Jesus Christ 'with sweetness' could fill our breasts."
