"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

15-63

Mile 205.  Tortoise snuck in a walk along the beach this morning before getting on his plane home.  His path was the Marvin Braude Trail, miles 9.75 to 11.5 in both directions, which had ocean to the west and a hill on the east separating him from the Los Angeles International Airport.  For more pictures, a map, other details, and the day's walking thought by Elaine Jack, please click below to continue reading ...

Cheerio!

The pictures speak for themselves, no?

Hurry up ... so we can wait at the airport :-)

Before returning home!
Tortoise completed today's 3.77 mile walk in 1:00:25 hours.  Tortoise rating was 6.4, based on 124 feet climbed in the 1.89 mile total of the uphill portions (average elevation 45).  590 calories were burned along the way.

Here is a map of today's route:

And here are the overall stats so far for 2015:

205.64 miles walked, which is 20.52% of Lou's 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 187.54 year-to-date miles.

59:52:28 hours walked, which is 19.13% of the 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year)

10,556 total feet climbed, compared with 9,987 feet on this day in 2014.

30,917 calories burned

17.25% of the year has passed

Lou has walked 62 consecutive non-Sundays since his last missed day on December 22, and overall has walked on 352 of the 367 non-Sundays since the beginning of 2014, a 95.91% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.  (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's 2013 walking record with 2014)

And now for today's walking thought, initially presented in October 1996:

"When hands are laid on my head in a personal priesthood blessing, I feel enveloped in the love of the Savior. I know that the brother who is administering that blessing is acting in the name of the Lord. In Mistolar, 39 of the men held the Melchizedek Priesthood—and used it to bless their people."
