Cheerio!
The pictures above and below were taken at the spot where Tortoise passed 500 miles walked so far in 2015. Wednesday, June 24. Now let's do another 500 ... |
La Verkin's newest eating establishment, on the grounds of the Best Western Plus motel |
Monday, 3.91 miles, basically on the loop shown below with one street added at the top, in 1:09:34 hours.
Tuesday, 3.64 miles on the loop in 1:01:52 hours.
Wednesday, same path, in 1:03:54 hours.
Thursday, 3.92 miles on Monday's path in 1:07:05 hours.
Friday, 4.49 miles with one street added in 2 places and 2 streets added in another to the basic loop, in 1:23:03 hours.
Saturday, 2.07 miles straight up Main Street to Wanlass Park and back in 32:56 minutes.
Tortoise ratings were very similar each day at 5.6, except Friday's longer walk was 5.3.
Calories burned Monday to Saturday were: 573, 541, 533, 573, 660, and 329.
Shhh ... don't tell the Boredom Committee, we wouldn't want to make them smile at the repetition.
Tuesday and Wednesday's La Verkin loop. |
And Friday's loop. Very similar, but the little extras brought nice photo opportunities. |
And here are the overall stats so far for 2015:
510.61 miles walked, which is 50.96% of Lou's 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 501.33 year-to-date miles.
155:50:29 hours walked, which is 49.79% of the 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year)
24,655 total feet climbed, compared with 23,121 feet on this day in 2014.
76,478 calories burned
48.88% of the year has passed
Lou has walked 41 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11. Overall he has walked on 144 of the 153 non-Sundays in 2015, a 94.12% consistency rating. This compares with 142 days walked after 153 non-Sundays in 2014 (a 92.81% consistency rating).
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day. (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's 2013 walking record with 2014 ... for him, it is what it takes to be consistent. And Tortoise feels much more vibrant when he is consistent. He hopes you find what works for you)
The tortoise is smiling!
