Mile 677. This view is from the halfway point of Tortoise's early evening loop walk from his office to the neighborhood up the hill. For a map, details, and the day's walking thought by Ulisses Soares, please click below to continue reading ...
Cheerio!
This was a 3.67 mile walk, with a 4.9 tortoise rating earned by climbing 236 feet in the 1.84 mile uphill portion at an average elevation of 3285. The walk burned 543 calories in 1:09:24 hours.
I also caught up on two posts for a walk done on April 14 and a no walk day April 15, if you are interested in those.
Here are the overall stats so far for 2015:
677.40 miles walked, which is 67.60% of Lou's 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 674.20 year-to-date miles.
207:28:02 hours walked, which is 66.28% of the 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year)
34,184 total feet climbed, compared with 31,742 feet on this day in 2014.
101,632 calories burned.
64.86% of the year has passed.
Lou has walked 91 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11. Overall he has walked on 194 of the 203 non-Sundays in 2015, a 95.57% consistency rating. This compares with 191 days walked after 203 non-Sundays in 2014 (a 94.09% consistency rating).
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day. (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's 2013 walking record with 2014 ... for him, it is what it takes to be consistent. And Tortoise feels much more vibrant when he is consistent. He hopes you find what works for you)
And now for today's walking thought:
"I recall that each time my companion and I set out to try to prove something to people, the Spirit of God left us and we felt totally lost and confused. We felt that we should more strongly align our testimonies with the truths of the gospel we were teaching. From that time on, I remember that when we bore a testimony with all our hearts, a silent confirming power coming from the Holy Ghost filled the room, and there was no space for confusion or discussion. I learned that no evil forces exist that are capable of confusing, deceiving, or subverting the power of a sincere testimony of a true disciple of Jesus Christ."

This is my experience as well.
The tortoise is smiling!
