Mile 1,047. Tortoise got such a nice response from his walking Christmas light tour two nights ago that he did an encore late tonight. For the most part, Lou was able to walk different streets this time, so you will be able to enjoy a new set of Christmas lights as you look at this set of pictures. Tonight's walking thought is by Dieter Uchtdorf. And now for the pictures ...
Cheerio!
Some light displays fill every available inch. Others highlight a few key items. Tortoise loves and appreciates them all! |
Loved. Even if the light display focuses solely on the Christmas tree in the window. |
Loved. The well lit wreath on the door. |
Or the single lit cactus plant |
Loved. Decorating the jeep and the RV in front of the house. |
The twinkling colored lights bathing the house appears to be the hot new trend. |
Or light up an entire acre of botanical garden. Love. |
Here are the overall stats so far for 2015:
1,047.79 miles walked which is 104.57% of Lou's 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 975.93 miles.
322:23:21 hours walked which is 103.00% of the 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year).
57,695 total feet climbed, compared with 47,637 feet on this day in 2014.
157,455 calories burned.
94.57% of the year has passed.
Lou has walked 184 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, Overall he has walked on 287 of the 296 non-Sundays in 2015, a 96.96% consistency rating. This compares with 283 days walked in the same period in 2014 (a 95.61% consistency rating).
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of both distance and of time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day. (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's walking record up until 2013 with 2014 or 2015 ... for him, it is what it takes to be consistent. He hopes you find what works for you).
And now for today's walking thought ...
"It is my prayer that you will experience a renewed and an expanded measure of the beautiful love of God in your lives; that you will find the faith, determination, and commitment to learn God's commandments, treasure them in your hearts, and live the gospel joyful.
"I promise that as you do so, you will discover your best self -- your real self."
-- Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Living the Gospel Joyful", October 2014 LDS General Conference
The tortoise is smiling!
