"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

16-113

Lou gives thanks to the mile 300 rocks on the PCT -- he finished today's walk at mile 302.  Pictured above is clean-up time at the Concert in the Park tonight.  Not every day you can hear local Chris Steglich strumming away a Kansas tune, which made Lou smile.  After the concert was done and a tasty hot dog eaten, it was off for a walk up and down the nearby hills.  Walking thought was by Russell Nelson ...

Cheerio!

Tonight's path was the same as last Tuesday's

Today's walk was 4.01 miles, done in 65:02 minutes at an average pace of 16:13 minutes per mile.  This route had an average 4.8 tortoise rating earned by climbing 262 feet in the 2.01 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 3253.  This walk burned 656 calories.  It was Lou's fifty-fourth 5k walk of the year.

Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:

302.25 miles walked, compared with Lou's goal for this date of 308.92 miles.

21,485 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 19,012. Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in 16 minutes less each day than his 1:07:04 hour average in 2015.  So far in 2016 Tortoise's walks have averaged 51:07 minutes each.

His average pace so far in 2016 has been 16:24 minutes per mile, slightly more tortoise like than his goal of 16:05 minutes per mile, but a noticeable difference from his 18:25 minute per mile pace in 2015.

Lou has walked 298 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, Overall he has walked on 401 of the 410 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 97.80% consistency rating.

One step at a time can lead to great things!

And now for today's walking thought ...

"Are you willing to follow President Thomas S. Monson's example of serving others?  For decades he has taken the long way home, following promptings of the Spirit to arrive on someone's doorstep and then hear words such as 'How did you know it was the anniversary of our daughter's death?' or 'How did you know it was my birthday?' And if you truly want more priesthood power, you will cherish and care for your wife, embracing both her and her counsel."

The tortoise is smiling!
