"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

Day 107  - I walked 3.60 km (2.24 miles) with 52.1 m (171 feet) climbed in 00:39:00Series 2B totals 269.26 km (167.35 miles) in 56 hours 26 minutes, with 2933.8 m (9624 feet) climbed in 9 counties in 7 states.

No listening again today, not enough battery power to do it.  I missed that, it makes the walking that much nicer!

For Benjamin:  I slept 6 1/2 hours today.

The battery on my phone has been failing in recent days.  I went to the phone store twice today trying to get a good replacement.  The second time I was "guaranteed" the replacement battery was good.  Well ... it expired at the top of the Main Street hill in St. George at the intersection of Hope Street.  (See map below).  When I got back to my car parked at the library and plugged the phone into the car charger, I logged back on to Humana Fit, and it assumed that I immediately walked directly back to the car (notice how straight the line is and how it does not follow a street).

I believe I have a good reading on the number of feet climbed at 171.  My actual return route was to go on Hope Street diagonally to 500 North, then left to 400 West, left again to 200 North, then right on 300 West across the signal light at the boulevard to 100 South, then left to the point of origin in the library parking lot.  I am making an educated guess as to the total distance.  I walked 19 1/2 blocks.  The Humana Fit map below covers 11 1/2 blocks.  I adjusted the distance in the map based on the increased number of blocks.  The time of 39 minutes is the actual clock time it took me to walk this 2.24 miles.

  2. Imagine being on the road and pondering your breakfast choices while staying in motion. Wendy's may not be the first thing that comes to your mind, but I got a lot of "mileage" out of those particular calories. If you like that, check out "chapter" 192 for what I did that day ...
