"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

3-33

Saturday!  It was over 100 degrees here, so after working in the morning, I went to the pool in the afternoon ... and set a huge new personal record, more than doubling the previous one.  By experimenting with different
strokes so that I could keep moving, I managed to swim 24 minutes without stopping.  I found a pace that was very slow, but sustainable.  When I did stop it was not that I couldn't go on, but that I didn't want to overdo it.  I would rather be consistent.

After swimming this 430 meters, I walked in the pool another 36 minutes, which I figure is the equivalent of 1.44 miles.  As I write this in the evening, I can definitely feel I did something, but I'm actually not as sore as yesterday.  Including the 0.25 miles I walked to the pharmacy this morning (see the map below), Chapter 3 totals are 30.89 miles walked in 12 hours 30 minutes, with 447 feet climbed, and 5 swims totalling 1,160 meters in 1 hour 3 minutes.

My weekly weigh-in was this morning:  259.2, down 1.1 pound for the week, and 10.6 pounds total for chapter 3 -- my recommitment since May 1.

Here's what I ate today:

And here's the map of my walk to the pharmacy (I needed to refill my Crestor ... I can always dream that doing this lifestyle might allow me to reduce my dose after my next blood test)

Another important part of my lifestyle is daily scripture reading.  Today it was Hosea 8-9 and Mosiah 23-25.  My favorite verses were:

"Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to chasten his people; yea, he trieth their patience and their faith.  Nevertheless--whosoever putteth his trust in him the same shall be lifted up at the last day.  Yea, and thus it was with this people.  For behold, I will show unto you that they were brought into bondage, and none could deliver them but the Lord their God, yea, even the God of Abraham and Isaac and of Jacob."  (Mosiah 23:21-23)

This reminds me that everyone will be chastened and have their patience and faith tried.  I just need to remember to continue to trust the Lord and He will deliver!

  1. Total awes! Was pure plow watching you in the pool work as hard and as long as you did...certainly a lot to be proud of on that day as well as for all your work over the past month, congrats!!

As you pointed out in your scripture study, patience is a major key to success because without it hopeless finds it's way in through the cracks and defeats our drive, motivation and will to carry on; whether it be physical, spiritual or even mental pursuit upon which you may find yourself.

The slow tortoise will win the race! Love!!
