"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-238

It's school time again, and even before 7 am the children gather at bus stops along Tortoise's path to excitedly chatter as the prepare for another day ... Tortoise was in a bit of a hurry today, lots to do and not enough time to do it.  Doesn't sound very tortoise like but as long as he can maintain a steady pace he is pleased.  Walk was 3.25 miles with 74 feet climbed in 54:01 minutes.  Tortoise rating was 5.6; calories burned were 523.  For a map, a thought from Gordon B. Hinckley, and more, please click below to continue reading ...

2014 Stats:

677.45 miles walked, which is 67.68% of my 2014 goal.
213:54:07 hours walked, which is 68.34% of my 2014 goal
31,816 total feet climbed
108,076 calories burned
65.18% of the year has passed

I've walked 13 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on August 11, and overall have walked on 192 of the 204 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 94.12% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

"I give the challenge that while you are performing the part to which you have been called, never lose sight of the whole majestic and wonderful picture of the purpose of this, the dispensation of the fulness of times. Weave beautifully your small thread in the grand tapestry, the pattern for which was laid out for us by the God of heaven. Hold high the standard under which we walk. Be diligent, be true, be virtuous, be faithful, that there may be no flaw in that banner."
