"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-258

Welcome to late night on the 600 North shared bike/walk path with the Tortoise ... after e-filing entity tax returns right up to the midnight deadline, Tortoise headed out on a minimum 2.04 mile walk in which he walked a mile and just a little more, then retraced his steps, climbing 139 feet in 31:39 minutes in the process.  Tortoise rating was 4.8 and calories burned were 352.

You can read a thought from Neal Maxwell along with a peak at Tortoise's daily map by clicking below to continue reading ...

Cheerio!

2014 Stats:

736.33 miles walked, which is 73.56% of my 2014 goal.
232:48:12 hours walked, which is 74.38% of my 2014 goal
35,343 total feet climbed
117,612 calories burned
70.61% of the year has passed

I've walked 30 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on August 11, and overall have walked on 209 of the 221 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 94.57% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

There were several insights of note in Neal Maxwell's October 1990 conference talk, here's a couple to get you started:

"Thus, in all its various expressions, selfishness is really self-destruction in slow motion!

"The meek men and women of Christ are quick to praise, but are also able to restrain themselves. They understand that on occasion the biting of the tongue can be as important as the gift of tongues."

The tortoise is smiling!
