"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-269

Here's the view of pounding rain in Tortoise's office parking lot at 3:39 pm.  By 6 pm, after travelling to St. George to take care of business there, he toted a brolly (also a useful implement when attending British futbol matches) in case the rains resumed and headed out on a 4.11 mile round trip walk on the Virgin River trail from the Riverside Drive trailhead until the trail is closed for the construction zone surrounding the Mall Drive bridge.  Said brolly was never used, but Tortoise is convinced had he left it in his car then there would have been more driving rains.

The walk included 74 feet of climbing in 1:15:26 hours on a 5.9 tortoise rated path.  642 calories were burned.  For a map, pictures, and today's walking thought from Ruth Wright, please click below to continue reading ...

Forced turnaround point.  It was where Tortoise had planned to do so anyway.

Ending point ... at mile 3.5 of the Mayor's Loop, measured
based on doing it counterclockwise.
2014 Stats:

763.17 miles walked, which is 76.24% of my 2014 goal.
240:54:02 hours walked, which is 76.97% of my 2014 goal
36,105 total feet climbed
121,842 calories burned
73.80% of the year has passed

Weigh-in:  228.4, down 1.2 from my last weigh-in on September 17 and continuing a drop of a total of 9.7 pounds since July 1.

I've walked 5 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 218 of the 231 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 94.37% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells me I am on track. I'm sure this is more numbers than you are interested in, all I can say is I'm really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because I don't do them every, every day.

Today's walking thought, provided by Ruth B. Wright,

On the walls of our Primary office hang pictures, drawn by children from around the world. I love to look at the picture of King Benjamin standing on the mighty tower with his loving arms outstretched to all his people. When I feel inadequate and overwhelmed with my own weaknesses, I think of King Benjamin and try again.
