"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

14-344

Mile 972.  Katella to Ball to ARTIC along the Santa Ana River Trail. No spelling error here.  ARTIC is an acronym for Anaheim Regional Intermodal Transportation Center, which looked to be under construction when I walked by on November 20.  Today the parking lot was full and buses were delivering passengers.  I arrived this morning for 4 days of work, and shook off the 402 mile drive by walking briskly before heading on to my clients.

Cheerio!

Trail on the left. River in the middle of the picture. To the right is first the Honda
Center, then the ARTIC, and beyond that the big A sign for Anaheim Stadium.
The city is all around us, just beyond the trees ...

Today's walk was 3.14 miles, with 25 feet climbed in 52:34 minutes, giving it a 6.9 tortoise rating.  472 calories were burned.  Should we call this the pi walk?

Here are the overall stats so far for 2014:

972.17 miles walked, which is 97.12% of my 2014 goal.
306:15:26 hours walked, which is 97.85% of my 2014 goal
47,590 total feet climbed
153,917 calories burned
94.25% of the year has passed
I've walked 69 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on September 20, and overall have walked on 282 of the 295 non-Sundays thus far in 2014, a 95.59% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.

And now for today's walking thought, originally presented in April 1994:

"Don’t say, “No one understands me; I can’t sort it out, or get the help I need.” Those comments are self-defeating. No one can help you without faith and effort on your part. 9 Your personal growth requires that. Don’t look for a life virtually free from discomfort, pain, pressure, challenge, or grief, for those are the tools a loving Father uses to stimulate our personal growth and understanding. As the scriptures repeatedly affirm, you will be helped as you exercise faith in Jesus Christ."
