Mile 30 for 2015 was reached on a day it took three walks to reach 2.08 miles. Pictured above is the first walk, from the rental car shuttle drop off at Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport through security to his gate. Second walk was through McCarran Airport in Las Vegas to the St. George Shuttle. Third walk was in a circle in the Joann's fabric store parking lot in Washington, Utah so that the minimum two miles for today would be walked. Tortoise was in travel mode home, he just did what he had to to get it done ...

Cheerio!
A total of 45 feet were climbed on today's walks in 36:38 minutes. Average tortoise rating was 6.2, with 339 calories burned along the way.
My walking map provider, www.mapmyfitness.com, has changed formats recently and the maps haven't transferred to this blog as well since. Instead of embedding the maps, let's try this link and see if that works better for you to see where Lou walked today:
Thank you, Rachel, for suggesting your favorite Jamba Juice breakfast items ... what a great start to the day!
Waffle with much more flavor than it appears, accompanied by steel cut oats with blueberries and bananas and some orange carrot karma! |
Here are the overall stats so far for 2015:
30.47 miles walked, which is 3.04% of my 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 34.45 year-to-date miles.
8:51:55 hours walked, which is 2.83% of my 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year)
1,244 total feet climbed, compared with 1,879 feet on this day in 2014.
4,616 calories burned
2.88% of the year has passed
2.88% of the year has passed
Tortoise has walked 17 consecutive non-Sundays since his last missed day on December 22, and overall have walked on 307 of the 322 non-Sundays since the beginning of 2014, a 95.34% consistency rating.
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day. (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's 2013 walking record with 2014)
And now for today's walking thought, initially presented in October 1994:

It's one of the classics, "Don't Drop The Ball". Sports enthusiasts will relate to those stories, but there is no mistaking the overall message whether sports interests you or not ...
The tortoise is smiling!
