Mile 28. After finishing client meetings this afternoon, Tortoise headed to Glassell Street just off the 91 Freeway in Anaheim to pick up where he left off walking the Santa Ana River Trail on December 11. Lou's first order of business after parking at the Embassy Suites hotel was to cross the river on Glassell to the trail connection, then walk back to Mile 16 (the previous ending point), after which he retraced his steps. He then continued to Mile 17.5 near the intersection of Riverdale and Tustin Avenues before once again retracing his steps, this time back to his point of origin.
It was a spectacular day for a walk as you can see in the picture! For more on this walk, including additional pictures, along with today's walking thought by Richard G. Scott, please click below to continue reading ...
Cheerio!
Today's walk was 3.68 miles. A total of 63 feet were climbed in 1:09:55 hours. Average tortoise rating was 6.6, with 540 calories burned along the way.
My walking map provider, www.mapmyfitness.com, has changed formats recently and the maps haven't transferred to this blog as well since. Instead of embedding the map, let's try this link and see if that works better for you to see where Lou walked today:
Here are the overall stats so far for 2015:
28.39 miles walked, which is 2.83% of my 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 30.95 year-to-date miles.
8:15:17 hours walked, which is 2.64% of my 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year)
1,199 total feet climbed, compared with 1,647 feet on this day in 2014.
4,277 calories burned
2.56% of the year has passed
2.56% of the year has passed
I've walked 16 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on December 22, and overall have walked on 306 of the 321 non-Sundays since the beginning of 2014, a 95.33% consistency rating.
The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day. (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's 2013 walking record with 2014)
And now for today's walking thought, initially presented in October 1994:
"Question: Could you give us some help about resisting peer pressure? Why do some people do things that are wrong, then brag about how much fun they are having? When I don’t participate, they make me feel stupid because I won’t do it. Answer: You can’t please God without upsetting Satan, so you will get pressure from those he tempts to do wrong."
