"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

15-14

Mile 39.  A night walk with my headlamp through Hurricane.  No pictures, so you get to see the author of today's walking thought.  For that and more on this walk, please click below to continue reading ...

Cheerio!

Today's walk was 3.64 miles.  A total of 77 feet were climbed in 1:03:11 hours.  Average uphill tortoise rating was 5.7, with 529 calories burned along the way.

My walking map provider, www.mapmyfitness.com, has changed formats recently and the maps haven't transferred to this blog as well since.  Instead of embedding the map, let's try this link and see if that works better for you to see where Lou walked today:

Here are the overall stats so far for 2015:

39.37 miles walked, which is 3.93% of my 2015 goal. On this day in 2014, Tortoise had walked 44.73 year-to-date miles.
11:28:26 hours walked, which is 3.67% of my 2015 goal (which is to walk 1 hour a day on the 313 days other than Sunday in the year)
1,453 total feet climbed, compared with 2,312 feet on this day in 2014.
5,927 calories burned
3.83% of the year has passed

I've walked 20 consecutive non-Sundays since my last missed day on December 22, and overall have walked on 310 of the 325 non-Sundays since the beginning of 2014, a 95.38% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of distance and time walked than of the year. This tells Tortoise that he is on track. Yes, this is more numbers than you are likely interested in, all Tortoise can say is he's really good at setting high goals and having them slip away because he doesn't do them every, every day.  (If you doubt this, compare Tortoise's 2013 walking record with 2014)

And now for today's walking thought, initially presented in October 1994:

"I bear solemn and grateful witness that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world. Certainly he is the center of our worship and the key to our happiness. Let us follow the Son of God in all ways and all walks of life. Let us make him our exemplar and our guide."
