"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

16-54

Mile 132.  Another walk by the light of the full moon after work, church service, and listening to beautiful piano music.  Tortoise found himself in LaVerkin at this point in his day, and did his walk winding up and down the east hill of town.  You might enjoy today's map ... and the walking thought by Neil Andersen ...

Cheerio!

Today's walk was 3.36 miles and had a 5.0 tortoise rating earned by climbing 197 feet in the 1.68 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 3242.  This walk burned 521 calories in 55:32 minutes, a pace of 16:32 minutes per mile.   It was Lou's thirteenth 5k walk of 2016.

Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:

132.71 miles walked which is 19.43% of Lou's 2016 goal of 683 miles.  His goal for this date is 100.06 total miles.

35:56:41 hours walked which is 17.17% of the 2016 goal (which is to walk 40 minutes a day on the 314 days other than Sunday in the year).

10,261 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 9,016. Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in 40 or so minutes, rather than an hour daily.  (So far in 2016 Tortoise's walks have averaged 46:53 minutes each, compared with 1:07:04 hours each in 2015)

21,303 calories burned.

14.65% of the year has passed.

Lou has walked 247 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, Overall he has walked on 350 of the 359 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 97.49% consistency rating.

The purpose of the percentages is to have a higher percentage of both distance and of time walked than of the year.  This tells Tortoise that he is on track.  And of course, he also wants to keep the Boredom Committee supplied with plenty of boring numbers so those good folks will be happy.

And now for today's walking thought ...

"As men and women, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters of God, we move forward together.  This is our opportunity, our responsibility, and our blessing."

The tortoise is smiling!
