"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

16-116

Mile 310.  Today brought another answer to prayers for rain, so when Tortoise finished some errands in St. George, he picked a time when the rain let up, and a place he could retreat from quickly.  Lou started his walk at the Sullivan Soccer Park in Washington and took the Virgin River Trail upstream from there.   The walking thought was by Dieter Uchtdorf ...

Cheerio!

Today's walk was 3.57 miles, done in 56:34 minutes at an average pace of 15:51 minutes per mile.  This route had an average 4.7 tortoise rating earned by climbing 209 feet in the 1.31 mile uphill portion. Average elevation was 2721.  This walk burned 607 calories.  It was Lou's fifty-sixth 5k walk of the year.

Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:

310.27 miles walked, compared with Lou's goal for this date of 315.29 miles.

22,053 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 19,404. Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in 16 minutes less each day than his 1:07:04 hour average in 2015.  So far in 2016 Tortoise's walks have averaged 51:24 minutes each.

His average pace so far in 2016 has been 16:24 minutes per mile, slightly more tortoise like than his goal of 16:05 minutes per mile, but a noticeable difference from his 18:25 minute per mile pace in 2015.

Lou has walked 300 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, Overall he has walked on 403 of the 412 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 97.82% consistency rating.

One step at a time can lead to great things!

And now for today's walking thought ...

"It may be a gradual work, but it doesn't have to be a cheerless one.  In fact, at the risk of stating the obvious, divorce rarely happens when the husband and wife are happy.

"So be happy!

"And brethren, astonish your wife by doing things that make her happy."

The tortoise is smiling!
