"The Blog Almost Too Boring To Be The Most Boring Blog in America ... for Over 5 Years!"

until it got too many red cards from Wounded Duck and the Boredom Enforcement Committee ... now the tortoise's goal is to get to 10 red cards so he can get Big Dog to drive down and take a good long walk with the tortoise

P. S. This blog listens to its readers. We have the Benjamin Category Override for 5+ mile walks and now, it humbles Tortoise to say he has been named "Lou", by Doug Jr, in memory of Mr. Consistency himself, Lou Gehrig. Tortoise can hardly type the words to think he is in any way comparable to the noble Iron Horse. Thank you!

16-163

Mile 453.  Being Saturday, Lou took a little bit more scenic path to work.  He dipped into the south corner of Confluence Park and enjoyed the beautiful skies and panoramas along the way.  The day's walking thought was by Dallin Oaks ...

Cheerio!

Getting a glimpse of things to come as Tortoise approaches the park.

This route added a nice hill to climb in addition to the views!

Today's walk was 4.03 miles, done in 1:24:15 hours at an average pace of 20:54 minutes per mile. This route had an average tortoise rating of 4.5, earned by climbing 336 feet in the 2.02 mile uphill portion.  Average elevation was 3251.

Here are the overall stats so far for 2016:

453.24 miles walked, compared with Lou's goal for this date of 445.86.

31,674 total feet climbed so far in 2016, compared to a year-to-date goal of 27,440.  Lou hopes to climb more than the 61,316 feet he climbed in 2015 -- but in less time each day than his 1:07:04 hour average in 2015.  So far in 2016, Tortoise's walks have averaged 56:23 minutes each.

His average pace so far in 2016 has been 17:25 minutes per mile, compared with his 18:25 minute per mile pace in 2015.

Lou has walked 341 consecutive non-Sundays since his 8 missed days May 2-11, 2015.  Overall he has walked on 444 of the 453 non-Sundays in 2015-16, a 98.013% consistence rating.

One step at a time can lead to great things!

And now for today's walking thought ...

"I have spoken for children -- children everywhere.  Some may reject some of these examples, but none should resist the plea that we unite to increase our concern for the welfare and future of our children -- the rising generation.

"We are speaking of the children of God, and with His powerful help, we can do more to help them.  In this plea I address not only Latter-day Saints but also all persons of religious faith and others who have a value system that causes them to subordinate their own needs to those of others, especially to the welfare of children. "
